Some of the original members still with the group don’t like us to say it, but Jersey Transit has been around for more than 25 years. We were singing a cappella before it was cool, and then out of fashion, and then cool again.
Performing almost completely without instruments (occasionally one of us tries to sneak in a French horn), Jersey Transit sings a repertoire of songs taken from jazz standards to reggae to R&B to today’s pop. When ‘tis the season, Jersey Transit also sings holiday songs ranging from the traditional sing-alongs to off-the-beat arrangements of the classics.
JT performs gigs locally and showcases its newest songs at the annual Spring Sing festival, which is just about as a cappella geeky as you can get with more than 10 a cappella groups from across the U.S.
